The UK government has announced plan
The UK government has announced its plan to decarbonise the nation through the Heat and Buildings Strategy. £5000 government grants will be given to households as part of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) to promote clean heat from low carbon technologies such as heat pumps.
What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The scheme will run for 3 years starting April 2022, and the government has set aside a budget of £450 million under this scheme. It will provide upfront capital grants to support the installation of heat pumps, and in some circumstances biomass boilers, in homes and some non-domestic buildings.

Modern solution for your house
The heat pump is an ideal solution for modern new buildings with energy class A0. However, it should be mentioned that the high seasonal energy efficiency of heating A +++ will save costs even for renovated houses. An air / water heat pump system is less capital intensive than other heat pump systems (eg water / water, ground / water).
Easy installation and service
The simplest installation among all types of heat pumps, is the air-water type in a monoblock design where it is not necessary to manipulate the heat pump coolant for installation. The heat pump is connected similarly to an electric boiler. This method does not require any complicated operation and its maintenance can be fast and without problems, only the hydraulic circuit is connected.

The BUS has still been in the process of finalisation. MCS has published a response to the the scheme consultation, which seeks views on Ofgem’s proposed administration of the new grant. In addition to heat pumps, biomass boilers are also eligible for the grant and for buildings that have poor fabric efficiency and cannot be treated with the other renewable systems. Properties, where biomass is justified, can include them after a heat loss calculation has been demonstrated.
